How to Write a Job Posting That Actually Attracts Great Candidates

Most restaurant job postings read like carbon copies and don't work. Start with a hook that makes candidates want to keep reading. Be specific about the role—typical section sizes, service style, shift times, POS system, average volume. Highlight what you offer, not just what you want: flexible scheduling, average tips per shift, paid training, advancement opportunities, respect for time-off requests.

Set Clear Expectations

Being upfront saves everyone time. If you need weekend availability, say so. If you're looking for someone who can eventually move into a lead role, mention it. Clarity attracts the right people and filters out the wrong ones. Make applying easy—if your process requires printing a resume or filling out a 20-page form, you're losing candidates before they even apply.
